Knowledge · QR codes

How the generator works

The QR code is rendered directly in the browser using the qrcodejs library. It encodes your input as a matrix of black and white modules that any camera app can read.

For crypto addresses, error correction level M (~15%) is recommended. It allows the code to still be read despite small smudges or reflections.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the generator offline?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, it works without an internet connection — all processing is local.
Are my addresses stored?
No. There is no backend and no storage. Your input stays in the browser and is not transmitted.
Why is the address format not validated?
The QR generator is deliberately neutral: it encodes any text. For formal address validation use the address validator.
Why does my text with umlauts fail?
The QR library budgets generously for special characters when computing capacity — long texts with umlauts can therefore trigger a capacity error. The generator then deliberately shows no code instead of a wrong one. For addresses and URLs (pure ASCII) this does not happen.

Check an address before sending?

Combine the QR generator with the address validator to catch typos before money moves.
